Hamburg In the evening, you can enjoy our magnificent departure
from the port past scenic Blankenese with panoramic views along the River Elbe.
Amsterdam/Netherlands Welcome to the "Venice of the north"! Here, you will have
plenty of time to discover the tranquil Durch canals, the narrow gabled houses and countless bridges.
To begin with, you may be tempted to explore the famous red-light district*, which attracts
tourists from all over the world to the colourfully illuminated streets on a daily basis. If you opt to
join the city tour / guided walk around the city*, you will also set foot in one of the typical
canal boats which takes you through Amsterdam's picturesque waterways past many historic buildings.
Greenwich (London)/England The COLUMBUS 2 will be staying in the port of the
pleasant little town for the night, and you have the opportunity to join the panoramic trip through
London* in the evening. The following day, you can discover the quiet side of London*. In
addition, royal Buckingham Palace* presents itself - visit some of the halls and the stables
with fantastic historic carriages.
Honfleur/France Narrow alleys, small cafés, French bistros - enjoy the picturesque
port town. On the excursion Honfleur and Deauville*, you will see St. Catherine's Church dating
back to the 15th century and stroll along the waterside promenade of Deauville. The Pays d'Auge*
with its green meadows and little villages is the epitome of rural Normandy. Here, you can sample one
of the regional specialities: calvados.
St. Malo/France The mediaeval historic district of St. Malo is a "ville close",
i.e. completely surrounded by a city wall. During the walk on the defensive bulwark, numerous views of
the little alleys, the port and the adjoining beaches will be revealed to you. The nearby monastery
island of Mont Saint Michel* is also known as a "wonder of the western world". In the company of a
knowledgeable guide, you can visit the church and some of the rooms of the monastery.
Bilbao/Spain Art as far as the eye can see! The world-famous
Guggenheim-Museum* already offers an abundance of inspiring sights from the outside. Or perhaps
you would prefer to set out on your own to discover some Spanish architecture in the historic district
all around the Paseo del Arenal?
La Coruna/Spain The old port city welcomes you with a wealth of splendid churches,
proud palaces of the aristocracy and idyllic gardens - or set out on the hike along the final stage
of the Way of St. James*. Alternatively, a drive through the Galician landscape takes you straight
to Santiago de Compostela*, the magnificent Roman cathedral of which crowns the famous pilgrims'
path.
Leixoes (Porto)/Portugal The merchants' city awaits you on the bank of the Douro,
and you can discover it on the excursion city tour of / guided walk around Porto*. Marvel at the
gorgeous Stock Exchange and taste the famous port wine. In historic Guimaraes*, you will be
welcomed by the Paco Ducal - the Palace of the Dukes with generously adorned rooms.
Lisbon/Portugal The "pearl of Portugal" is your last destination before your return
journey.
