Valletta/Malta The COLUMBUS 2 leaves the island's capital behind
and sets course for new destinations.
Syracuse/Sicily In the days of Cicero, Syracuse was the centre of the ancient
world. Monuments such as the Roman theatre and the altar of Hiero, which will be among your discoveries
on the city tour / guided walk around the city*, are reminiscent of those times. Baroque
Noto* shines in bright tufa - churches, monasteries and palaces vie for your attention. On board,
your day ends with another highlight - just before midnight, the COLUMBUS 2 sails through the legendary
Strait of Messina.
Capri/Italy The atmospheric circumnavigation of the volcanic island of Stromboli at
sunrise gets you into the mood for one of the most beautiful destinations in the Mediterranean - the
rocky island of Capri. Today, the home of the Blue Grotto is frequented by celebrities from all over
the world who - just like yourself - enjoy the unique light.
Sorrent/Italy From the steep white cliffs, your eyes will wander across the Gulf of
Naples. On the landscape tour to Amalfi*, you will experience an air of the Orient - the
cloister of the cathedral Sant'Andrea was built in Arab-Norman style. The visit to Pompeii*
opens a three-dimensional history book - temples, thermal baths and theatres almost present themselves
like they did 2,000 years ago.
Civitavecchia (Rome)/Italy Magnificent St. Peter's Basilica, the Colosseum and the
Forum Romanum - Rome* is full of history and more vital than ever. On the Spanish Steps, "la
dolce vita" virtually becomes tangible. Viterbo and Tuscania* bring back to life bygone days on
a walk through the former papal residence and the town of the Etruscans.
Livorno (Florence)/Italy The second largest city in Tuscany picturesquely overlooks
the Etruscan Riviera. A stroll along the Via Grande reveals equally beautiful views as the Porto
Mediceo and the old fort. Florence* welcomes you as a living art museum - works by great masters
adorn places such as the Uffizi Gallery and the Basilica of Santa Croce. In Lucca*, the secret
capital of Tuscany, the Middle Ages left behind numerous treasures, for instance the cathedral San
Martino or the church San Frediano.
Portofino/Italy The sun-kissed fishing village provides longing with a new name -
on a walk, you can mix with the international jet set sauntering between the colourful houses.
Following our departure, the COLUMBUS 2 cruises off the coast of the Cinque Terre - the "five villages"
are lined up like pearls on a picturesque section of the Ligurian coast.
Monte Carlo/Monaco Your cruise comes to an end in Monte Carlo.
