Monte Carlo/Monaco
Seven eventful days begin in the cosmopolitan principality.

Portofino/Italy
The morning holds the first beautiful experience of the day in store for you - the COLUMBUS 2 takes you past the scenic coastal panorama of the Cinque Terre. The ship will drop anchor right in front of the colourful fishermen's houses of Portofino, offering you fantastic views of the sophisticated little town popular among celebrities. The boat trip to Santa Margherita and Rapallo* shows you an early version of "illusion and reality" in the picturesque historic district - the numerous ornaments on the houses appear three-dimensional, but are actually skillfully painted.

Livorno (Florence)/Italy
At the cathedral square of the port city you will encounter the Via Grande - perhaps the idea of an elegant shopping stroll appeals to you? Michelangelo and Machiavelli invite you to nearby Florence* for an extensive guided walk around the city. Behind its city walls, Lucca* exudes an enchanting mediaeval atmosphere, while the power and glory of religious belief become perceptible in the churches San Martino and San Frediano.

Civitavecchia (Rome)/Italy
Over several millenia, it was the setting of great history - the eternal city of Rome*. You will sense it with every step you take throughout the historic centre, at the Colosseum or at St. Peter's Basilica. In Viterbo and Tuscania*, the impressive heritage of the Etruscans, you can also follow the traces of the past.

Capri/Italy
In factual terms, it is merely a little rocky isle. However, the special light, the breathtaking views across the Gulf of Naples and - last but not least - the play of colours of the Blue Grotto make Capri incomparable. Go ashore and succumb to its charm.

Sorrent/Italy
The scent of oranges and lemons fills the air as the COLUMBUS 2 reaches the small town of Sorrento in the evening. The following morning, the spectacular hike along the Amalfi coast* takes you from Praiano to Positano on the famous "path of the gods". Insights into the life of the ancient Romans will be revealed to you during the visit to Pompeii*. Round off the day with atmospheric images as we circumnavigate the island of Stromboli.

Syracuse/Sicily
Through the legendary Strait of Messina, the COLUMBUS 2 takes you past the coasts of Calabria and Sicily to Syracuse, one of Sicily's most beautiful cities. On the city tour with guided walk*, you can fall in love with its historic centre on the island of Ortigia. Look forward to a thrilling encounter with Europe's largest active volcano on the drive to Mount Etna and ascent by cable car*. Opulent, bright and sensuous are the words that best describe the facades of baroque Noto*, a Sicilian gem.

Valletta/Malta
In the former city of the Teutonic Knights, you will embark on your return journey.
