New York/USA Following your first overnight stay aboard the
COLUMBUS 2, you can explore the largest and most exciting metropolis in the USA - either
individually or by joining a city tour of New York*. Colourful Times Square, the famous
Empire State Building, bustling Chinatown, Wall Street - experience the main attractions of the Big
Apple. At the Battery Park, you have a magnificent view of the Statue of Liberty. The gigantic
Rockefeller Center* is like a city in its own right with a total of 21 high-rise buildings
running from 48th to 51st Street. From the observation platform Top of the Rock, you will enjoy
fantastic views across Manhattan and its skyscrapers.
Baltimore/Maryland/USA Go ashore and discover Baltimore and its historic buildings.
Or would you like to get to know the capital of the USA? The White House, the Lincoln and Jefferson
Memorial, the Capitol - on the city tour of Washington D.C.*, impressive American history awaits
you in the shape of classicist architecture. At Arlington National Cemetery, you can visit the grave of
John F. Kennedy. A colonial-style estate keeps alive the memory of the first President of the United
States of America - Mount Vernon*, the former country residence of George Washington on the
banks of the Potomac River, is now a museum.
Charleston/South Carolina One of the most well-preserved cities of the Southern
United States was founded in 1670 in honour of King Charles II. Today, you can follow the trails of
Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler here. Stately mansions dating back to the time before the American
Civil War make Charleston a genuine feast for the eyes, which will captivate you on the guided walk
through the city*. Many of the charming houses serve as authentically furnished museums. Boone
Hall* is probably the most well-known plantation in the Southern United States - its fame is
attributed to the movie "Gone with the Wind" and the TV series "North and South". Botanists will
primarily love the camelia and azalea that grow in the local gardens.
Savannah/Georgia The atmosphere of bygone days can be sensed in historic
Savannah*, the first settlement of the English colony Georgia with its gorgeous Victorian houses
typical of the Southern United States. Join a tour in an open-top car across one of the largest and
historically most relevant city centres in the USA - you will see villas and houses with marvellous
verandas such as Davenport House dating back to 1820 and buildings by the architect John Jay with
Gothic and Italian influences. In this context, you will also be fascinated by the interior of the
pretty Cathedral of St. John the Baptist
*These arrangements are not included in the cruise price. The shore activities listed here are in the
planning stage and are subject to changes.
Port Canaveral/Florida A stroll though the city, a day on the beach - enjoy your
time under Florida's blue skies. If you visit Seaworld*, you will experience orcas, alligators
and many other animals, for instance from the Arctic. You also have the opportunity to observe
dolphins, stingrays or sea lions up close while feeding or touching them. The first person ever to
travel to the moon set out from Cape Canaveral - immerse yourself in the history of astronautics at the
Kennedy Space Center*, the spaceport of NASA.
Fort Lauderdale/Florida The extensive network of canals that runs through the city
have earned Fort Lauderdale the nickname "The Venice of America". Up to the night you can enjoy the
exclusive atmosphere of the "Capital of the yachts". A boat ride through Fort Lauderdale* offers
a spectacular view of the "Millionaire's Row" - in the street of millionaires a lot of villas of
actors, athletes and other super-rich string together. During the visit of the Everglades National
Park * you will take an airboat-trip through the tropical swamplands, where the alligators,
raccoons, otters and manatees have their homeland.
Princess Cays/Bahamas Gorgeous beaches, colourful coral reefs, little bays,
fantastic possibilities in terms of water sports - have a relaxing day on the exclusive small private
island. Perhaps you would like to spend it sunbathing and snorkelling?
Freeport/Bahamas Shopping, golfing, gambling at the casino - the Bahamas offer you
plenty of opportunities to have a pleasant time ashore. The kayak tour in Lucayan National Park*
takes you to the heart of the lush landscape of the island. Paddle through the mangrove forest, go for
a swim on Gold Rock Creek beach and stroll to the Lucayan Caves, one of the longest and most well-known
underwater cave systems in the world. At the peaceful Botanic Garden*, you can admire the
abundant exotic flora while listening to the chirping of various bird species. Or would you prefer to
relax on one of the island's marvellous beaches today?
Nassau/Bahamas What used to serve as a hideaway for pirates is now the proud
capital of the Bahamas - twelve impressive days come to an end in Nassau.
