Singapore Following the arrival in the smallest state in Southeast
Asia, the COLUMBUS 2 awaits you for an unforgettable cruise.
Phuket/Thailand Welcome to one of the most beautiful islands in the land of smiles!
You will alternately encounter lush green hills, bright white sandy beaches and crystal-clear water on
your excursion impressions of Phuket*. In Phang Nga Bay*, which you will explore with
traditional longboats, the bizarre limestone cliffs rise almost vertically to heights of up to 300 m.
Fantastic Karon Beach* invites you for some hours of relaxation under the tropical sun.
Trincomalee/Sri Lanka A genuine insiders' tip awaits you between the stunningly
beautiful beaches and the evergreen hills in the northeast of Sri Lanka. The city tour / guided walk
around the city* takes you through the former Ceylon - from the Hindu temple Koneswaram on Swami
Rock all the way to Fort Frederick, a legacy of colonial rulers from the Netherlands. On the boat
trip to Pigeon Island*, you will experience a paradise for swimming and sunbathing. Being active or
simply relaxing? On the occasion of a stay at a hotel complex*, you are free to decide in favour
of water sports or sweet idleness.
Galle/Sri Lanka Ships already dropped anchor off the southernmost tip of the west
coast 2,000 years ago. Later, the Dutch erected mighty fortifications. If you explore the historic
district on foot*, you will encounter further legacies of the colonial era and visit the
enthralling Historical Mansion Museum. The focus of the stay at a hotel facility* is on
relaxation - here, you can go swimming or enjoy beneficial spa treatments.
Cochin/India Numerous highlights await you in the city where the great navigator
Vasco da Gama found his final resting place. In the historic district Fort Cochin*, for
instance, you will discover attractions such as the oldest European church on Indian soil, the colonial
quarter with the Chinese fishing nets and Mattancherry House. How delicious curries can be prepared
using exquisite spices will be revealed to you by local chefs if you wish to be introduced to
typical Indian cooking*. On the overland excursion Delhi and Taj Mahal*, you can visit a
fascinating metropolis and one of the "New Seven Wonders of the World" - created by a Mughal emperor as
a mausoleum for his beloved wife. In perfect harmony, the domes and towers were shaped from white
marble that is alternately bathed in all the colours of the daylight and almost appears weightless - a
symbol of immortal beauty.
Mumbai (Bombay)/India Re-embarkation of the guests of the overland excursion to
Delhi and to the Taj Mahal. A day in Mumbai* will reveal to you fascinating facets of the
largest metropolis in the west of India - for instance the Asian Library and the old Bhau Daji Lad
Museum or St. Thomas Cathedral and Victoria Station established during the British colonial era. The
markets of Mumbai* are also an experience - long alleys with colourful spice and jewellery
stalls invite you for a stroll and some haggling. The city's most significant attraction awaits you on
the boat trip to the Elephanta Caves* - the impressive sculptures of the rock temple offer you
interesting insights into the Hindu world of gods.
Khasab/Musandam/Oman The enclave situated in the northwest of the Arabian Peninsula
literally crowns Oman - and is furthermore a place of almost indescribable beauty. Picturesquely
embedded between the Strait of Hormuz and an impressive mountain scenery, a more than 350-year-old
Portuguese fort and a dreamy fishing village await you in Khasab and Bukha*. On the dhow
trip* with one of the traditional boats, you will explore the bays and fjords.
Dubai/United Arab Emirates Enriched by a wealth of unique impressions, you will
leave the COLUMBUS 2 in the boomtown of the Middle East.
