MS Deutschland - Eternal Fire & Ice - Voyage 403
Travemunde, Germany - Reykjavik, Iceland -
June 9 - 28, 2012
|
Remote coasts,
the Fire Island and the enormous icebergs of Greenland are certainly one
of the unforgettable impressions of this great northern
tour. Let yourself be carried away by volcanoes, fjords, and the
friendly Inuit!
The MS Deutschland takes you into the north country,
its rugged coastline and scattered islands. On the way
to eternal ice you will be inspired by the light of the northern
summer and the boisterous nature of the
Shetlands and the Faroe Islands. In Iceland, you feel
the untamed power of the earth. The geysers and Gullfoss waterfalls
are the motives of this famous island of fire and ice.
In Thingvellir, you’ll see the crests of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, where
the America and European tectonic plates meet!
Sailing to Greenland isone of the highlights of the MS Deutschland cruising
season. The adventure begins with the passage of
the romantic Prince Christian Sound. Explore Sisimiut, with
its colorful wooden houses and geta glimpseinto the lifestyle of the
Inuit before the MS Deutschland continues sailing north.
Visit Disco Bay and experience the Arctic icebergs in Ilulissat. In
Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, you will marvel
at the centuries-old ice mummy and stroll through
the quaint fish market.
In Qaqortoq, you walk in the
footsteps of Hans Egede, the apostle of Greenland. On board again you
will be amazed by the spectacular coastal beauty and continue cruising to
Reykjavik.
