THE
ARTISTS*
For this very
special cruise we have Alain Rattier’s talented “Jazz
Band” on board to recreate the sounds of
big names such as Louis Armstrong, Ray
Charles and Django Reinhardt, while the warm powerful voice
of Segan performs a repertoire of Mahalia
Jackson, the Queen of Gospel who died in
1972. Come and join us on this exceptional cruise and
discover these talented singers and musicians
ready to share their passion with
you.
ALAIN RATTIER JAZZ
BAND
The
famous Alain Rattier Jazz Band takes
you back to the great days of jazz with
highlights from big names such as Louis Armstrong, Ray
Charles and Django reinhardt. Members of his orchestra include
Christian Bedoy on saxophone. He has performed all over the United States and
Australia with the "Vitamine Jazz
Band". Philippe Guigner, a former aerospace engineer who
switched to music, accompanies on the guitar and
banjo recalling the great gypsy jazz of Django
Reinhart. On trumpet is Laurent Rieu, a university professor and lecturer on the
history of
jazz, who is a big fan of Louis
Armstrong. On double-bass and drums, respectively, we have Magalie Martin
and Didier Marteau with their
magnificent feeling for swing which they perform
with talent and brio. For many years,
Didier was the drummer for Jérôme
Savary.
SEGAN
If the black man’s voice often expresses the distress
of the mind and the body, it is without doubt to the female
voices that Gospel owes its soul. Discovered at the 2nd
International Gospel Festival in Paris, SEGAN is one of the best
performers in this genre and brings to Le Boréal a magical
repertoire. Blessed with a wonderful voice and impressive range,
she manages to achieve a perfect alchemy of influences, taking
inspiration from Mahalia Jackson through to Ella Fitzgerald while
developing her own personal style. From the moment she sets foot
on stage with her musicians and chorus the magic begins. All
inhibitions forgotten, her faith rings out through her voice.
Totally at one with her audience, she is capable of reducing
you to tears of joy - the emotion is
palpable.
