Le Levant Cruise

Aegean Sea: Istanbul to Athens
Istanbul (Turkey) - Athens (Greece)

August 6 -13, 2012
8 days / 7 nights on board

  • Discovering the Cyclades: like so many precious stones on the silky blue waters of the Aegean Sea.
  • The island of Chios, part of the Northeastern Aegean Islands a few miles from the coast of Turkey. According to many archaeologists, Chios was also the homeland of the famous poet Homer who wrote the “Iliad and Odysseys”.

Destination Arrival Departure
Day 1 - Istanbul (Turkey)
Embarkation from 16.30 to 17.30
- 19:00
Day 2 -Limnos (Greece)
A placid sentry keeping watch over the Dardanelles Straits, Limnos occupies a strategic position at a junction of routes criss-crossing the Aegean Sea. Peaceful and serene, the island lies low with wide open spaces and a coastline untouched by modern tourism. Legend has it that this is where Vulcan the God of Fire lived, so do not be surprised to find works of art forged out of metal, a craft handed down through the ages to today.
14:00 22:00
Day 3 - Chios (Greece)
A maritime crossroads, Hios (the island’s former name) was once famous as a merchant portvreceiving merchandise in transit between Europe and Asia. Its commercial reputation wasvquickly surpassed by its artistic fame. Many believe that this is where Homer was born andvwhere the poet wrote his most famous work “the Iliad and the odyssey”.
08:00 23:00
Day 4 - Patmos (Greece)
Known as the "Jerusalem of the Aegean", Patmos is a holy island for Christians and is where Saint John drafted the Apocalypse. An impressive silhouette of the crenellated walls of an 11th century monastery stands out against the hills in the centre of an island which has retained its traditional architecture.
12:00 23:00
Day 5 - Delos (Grèeee)
Birthplace of the twins Artemis and Apollo, Delos is one of the most important mythological, historical and archaeological sites in Greece. Legend has it that because the island was Apollo’s birthplace it became an important sanctuary visited by pilgrims.
08:00 13:00
Day 6 -Paros (Greece)
Often compared to Mykonos, Paros owes its reputation to the magnificent white marble which was used to produce some of the world’s most famous art works, including the Venus de Milo. In the heart of the olive and vineyard covered valleys lies the startlingly white village of Paros, with its windy streets aflame with geraniums and jasmine.
07:00 12:00

Syros (Greece)

15:00 23:00
Day 7 -Santorini (Greece)
A natural port surrounded by cliffs, the ancient site of thera is circular in shape corresponding to the collapsed centre of the volcano which erupted here. Indeed, this cataclysmic event was probably behind the Atlantis myth and numerous other legends and tales from ancient manuscripts.
