Day 2 - Bonifacio (France - Corsica) Perched
precariously on a high rocky promontory, Bonifacio overlooks the
lovely “bouches” marine reserve. A fortress city atop white limestone and
granite cliffs that have been sculpted by wind and waves, Bonifacio’s historic
heart of tall, narrow houses and winding cobblestone streets is a legacy of
its medieval period. Not far from here the Bavella Needles and the perched
city of Sartène add to the Corsican charm. |

Day 3 - Civitavecchia - Rome (Italy) Port of
call for Italy’s capital, Civitavecchia is our gateway to “the Eternal City” of
Rome. Having dominated the “Western World” for so long, this ancient
metropolis harbours a thousand and one testimonies to its rich past. Over 400
churches, 300 fountains and countless ruins have become so much a part of the
myth and mystery surrounding the great italian city, held in such esteem by
visitors. |

Day 4 - Ischia (Italy)
Nicknamed the “Green Island” because of the abundant and luxuriant vegetation,
Ischia is the largest island in the Gulf of Naples. Elder sister to Capri, it has
been famous since ancient times as a volcanically rich source of sulphur. |

Day 5 - Palermo (Italy) Cradled in the arms
of a magnificent sweeping bay, Sicily’s capital never fails to seduce.
A crossroads between Eastern and Western civilisations since time immemorial,
Palermo has been indelibly marked by the diverse cultures which have passed
this way. the charm of this city of a thousand contrasts owes much to the
atmosphere that prevails in the historic centre. |

Day 6 - Taormina (Italy)
On the edge of Catania, Taormina (Italy) stands out against the slopes of
Mount Tauro in the heart of a picturesque and charming location. The town’s alleyways
and gardens tumble down the mountain to the Ionian Sea. Its ancient Greek theatre is
the second largest in Sicily, after the theatre at Syracuse, and offers a magnificent
panorama with the majestic Mount Etna, its lava flows still smoking, in the
background. |

Day 9 - Itea (Greece) - Crossing the Corinth
Canal
A grandiose impressive work of art linking the Ionian and Aegean Seas, the Corinth
Canal is the fruit of a dream dating back to ancient times. The Emperor Nero
had at one time envisaged its creation.
From Itea (Greece) we enter the immaculately preserved sacred site of the Delphi
Valley. Clinging to the precipitous slopes of the mountain, the white ruins of Apollo’s
famous sanctuary rise up out of the pines, olive trees and cypresses. In total harmony
with nature, it was a symbol of the unity of the Greek world in the 6th Century BC. The
stadium and theatre offer a wonderful viewpoint across the Pleistos Valley. |
