Day 3 - Bonifacio (Corsica-France) Perched precariously on a high rocky
promontory, Bonifacio (Corsica) occupies a very special place in the Corsican landscape,
particularly when viewed from the sea. A fortress city atop white limestone and granite cliffs that
have been sculpted by wind and waves, Bonifacio’s historic medieval heart of tall, narrow houses
and winding cobblestone streets is protected by an impressive citadel wall embellished with square
towers: a beautiful sight.

Day 5 -Portoferraio (Elba Island - Italy) The island of elba, pearl of the
Tuscan Archipelago has been shaped by the wind and the sun. An island without borders where the
blue sea, lush countryside, perched villages, archaeological treasures and chestnut trees seem to
have been here for an eternity. The capital Portoferraio (Italy) is one of the island’s oldest
districts, dating back to the Ligurians and Etruscans. Here you can follow in the footsteps of
Napoleon as you wind your way through the pastel-coloured houses protected by their two Medicean
forts.

Day 6 - Viareggio (Italy) A pleasant seaside resort in Tuscany, Viareggio is
our gateway to the architectural wonders of Pisa. Surrounded by a 5 km medieval wall from the
12th century, Pisa is one of the most elegant cities in the Cecina Valley, bound to the left
by the sea and to the right by the fertile fields of Tuscany. You will not want to miss seeing
the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa for which the first stone was laid in the 12th century. The
city’s emblem, the tower is 800 years old and continues to defy the pull of gravity.

Cruising along the Cinqueterre
A wonderful sail along the rocky peninsula of the Gulf of Spezia offers you a magnificent view of
the Cinque Terre National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Five jewellike villages
combining medieval architecture with a touch of the Renaissance nestle into a dramatic landscape
that is truly without equal. Lodged between vineyards and olive groves at the foot of sheer
cliffs, this string of villages basking in the Mediterranean sunshine are a work of art in nature.
Each village offers not just the sea but picturesque footpaths, breathtaking views, churches,
oratories and ancient castles. The coastal path was often the only road at the beginning of the
last century. At times, high above the sea, the path links all the villages winding its way
between olive groves and citrus fruit trees, down into shady damp valleys and back up into the
sunshine. A national park that has been protected by UNESCO since 1997, the Cinque Terre offers
a panorama that is unrivalled - Indiaed the vineyards on the cliffs seem to defy gravity. |
