Vanuatu's Abundant Nature
Blue lagoons, white sandy beaches and a
colourful underwater world - you will immediately understand why Vanuatu is said to be home
to the happiest people in the world. On
Efate, you will gain
enthralling insights
into Vanuatu's cultural heritage* in the rainforest. The "bushmen" of the village of
Jarofa will show you how they have adapted their way of living to the wilderness.
Alternatively, you can set out on an adventurous hike to the
Mele Cascades
Waterfalls*, which also takes you to various idyllic spots that are ideal for
swimming.
Dream Destination for Discoverers - the Solomon Islands
Only an
authentic expedition ship like the BREMEN and her manoeuvrable Zodiacs offer you the
opportunity to explore the rugged landscape of the Solomon Islands and their exotic charm.
Visit their pristine beaches and look forward to encounters with cultures that frequently
appear mysterious. You will experience the cordiality of the inhabitants for the first time
when you are welcomed by the village elder on
Nendoe. Following a Zodiac landing on
Santa Ana Island, you will be equally thrilled by the wonderful white beaches and
the genuineness of the locals. Only few visitors have the chance to witness the impressive
welcome ritual of the warriors of the village of Ghupana with their spears. The BREMEN will
set course for two true insiders' tips in the remote island world for the first time. Far
away from the usual routes, the Zodiacs will take you to a lonely lagoon off the coast of
Uipi Island, where you can snorkel and swim to your heart's desire. And on the tiny
Pirumeri Island, you are free to immerse yourself in the life of the islanders with
their colourful dances and their singing.
Spectacular Papua New Guinea
More than 600 islands make up Papua New
Guinea, which owes many of its beauties to the subterranean forces of the fire. Sailing
into the port of
Rabaul is also an unforgettable moment - the town is surrounded by
six volcanoes, some of which are still active. A
helicopter flight over the volcanic
landscape* will reveal even more spectacular sights. The excursion
Rabaul and its
history* takes you on an exciting tour of discovery. Just like Rabaul,
Tabar
Island belonged to the colony German New Guinea once upon a time. Today, you will
encounter the great masters of canoe building and malangan carving here.
Micronesia - Paradise at the End of the World
Almost uncountable, the
islands and atolls of Micronesia sparkle in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. With the
manoeuvrable Zodiacs of the BREMEN, you will advance into this paradisiacal world and
discover unknown treasures. A small atoll consisting of 33 little islands charms you right
at the beginning - with the flair of the pristine,
Kapingamarangi entices you to
stay and dream. We will subsequently head for the "island of black pearls"
Nukuoro,
the precious produce of which you can admire on the occasion of a walk into the village.
Soon thereafter, the BREMEN sets course for
Pohnpei, the second largest of the
Caroline Islands. Amidst lush tropical vegetation, you will discover the impressive ruins
of
Nan Madol*, one of the most famous attractions in Micronesia. They provide
evidence of a very advanced civilisation which is several centuries old. You may wish to
take a dive into Micronesia's dazzling underwater world from the edge of the reef of the
little island of
Oroluk. The coral-covered Japanese shipwrecks in the lagoon of
Chuuk also offer magnificent conditions for snorkelling. The crowning finale of your
expedition awaits you on
Satawal, one of the Yap Islands. Enjoy the incredibly
colourful dance performances of the locals before you say farewell to the pristine beauty
of the Pacific at the end of a veritable dream cruise.
