Monday 11-May-2015 Daytime passage through the Kiel Canal
At almost 100 km long, the Kiel Canal is the most frequently used artificial shipping lane in the world. Let the northern German scenery drift by on your private veranda, marvel at the art of navigation in the locks and take advantage of the various opportunities provided by the EUROPA 2 – ranging from culinary discoveries in seven restaurants to exclusive treatments in the OCEAN SPA.
Tuesday 12-May-2015 Copenhagen/Denmark, arrival 8.00 hrs
The Danish metropolis, stretching over two islands, is famous for its easy lifestyle; you can experience it for yourself in charming districts such as Nyhavn. Formerly the district of mariners, it has evolved into a popular, colourful hotspot. The gabled houses, cosy cafes and small shops will entice you to stay a while and explore. Stroll around the streets late into the night and enjoy the Scandinavian flair. On a city tour**, you will be welcomed by the city’s landmark, the Little Mermaid. In front of Amalienborg Palace, the residence of the royal family, you can tell from the flag whether or not the queen is at home. Directly opposite the residence you can visit the Copenhagen Opera House. It is one of the most modern theatres in the world and its striking, 90 m wide awning is a real eye-catcher. Alternatively, explore Dyrehaven park, the hunting grounds of the royal family since 1670, on a horseback ride**. The park is home to over 2,000 deer. Take a helicopter trip** and marvel at the breathtaking views of Copenhagen, the islands offshore and the Oresund Bridge.
Wednesday 13-May-2015 Copenhagen, departure 3.00 hrs
Malmoe/Sweden, 8.00 – 17.00 hrs
The third largest city in Sweden combines city flair with a relaxed atmosphere. Whereas the old town brings the past to life with its picturesque half-timbered houses, the port is dominated by a spectacular landmark: the futuristic Turning Torso twists 190 m into the sky and offers impressive panoramic views. A particularly rewarding way of exploring Malmoe is a bicycle tour** which will lead you past the city’s sights – including a detour to the nearby Torup Castle, one of the best-preserved medieval castles in Sweden. Fans of challenging crime fiction can visit the picturesque Ystad and follow in the footsteps of Kurt Wallander**.
