In the Kingdom of Wild Animals: Mauritius to Cape Town
MS Europa 2 Voyage 1535 - December 6 - 19, 2015

Look forward to impressions rich in contrast: the shimmering metropolises of the Arabian Peninsula give way to the untouched natural beauty of the Seychelles and Madagascar. Be enchanted by the oriental flair of the United Arab Emirates on the Persian Gulf and enjoy some relaxation at sea before sunbathing, snorkelling and diving in the Seychelles. With a little luck, you might encounter Madagascar’s Brookesia, the smallest chameleon in the world, as you take in the scent of vanilla. Your cruise and 20 days of relaxed luxury on the EUROPA 2 will come to an end on Mauritius.

Highlights of this cruise:

  • Oman – fascination between tradition and modernity.
  • Dreamlike beaches on the Seychelles and Mauritius.
  • A unique natural paradise: Madagascar.
  • IMPULSE & INSPIRATION events on the theme “Boundless: the worlds of the future”.

    * These arrangements are not included in the cruise price. The shore activities listed here are in the planning stage and are subject to changes.

08-Dec-2015 Relaxation at sea
09-Dec-2015 Taolanaro/Madagascar, 7.00 – 17.00 hrs
Taolanaro means “place of dreams” – when you see the panoramic view from the peak of Saint Louis, you’ll understand why. A stroll through the Nature Reserve of Nahampoana** is the best way to experience Madagascar’s unique fauna and flora. And a boat trip to the fishing village of Evatraha** will give you a feel for the local Madagascan culture.
10-Dec-2015 - 11-Dec-2015 Relaxation at sea
12-Dec-2015 Maputo/Mozambique, 6.00 – 14.00 hrs
Ilha dos Portugueses/Mozambique, 15.30 – 19.00 hrs
Founded in the 16th century, Maputo has managed to preserve its wonderfully traditional charm. A city tour** will introduce you to various landmarks, including the train station planned and built by Gustave Eiffel.
13-Dec-2015 Richard’s Bay/South Africa, arrival 11.00 hrs
A two-day trip to the Phinda Private Game Reserve** showcases the seven different ecosystems that share this 15,000-hectare area. You might even see the “big five”. Alternatively you can take a boat trip on Lake St. Lucia** for a first-hand encounter with hippopotamuses and crocodiles, or visit a Zulu village** and be inspired by the ancient customs of South Africa’s largest ethnic group.

14-Dec-2015

Richard’s Bay, departure 20.00 hrs
Richard’s Bay – Richard’s Bay GC
Gary Player was involved in the design of this par 71 course. This wonderful course, located on Lake Mzingazi, has some of its own rules – including for balls that land in hippopotamus tracks.
15-Dec-2015 Durban/South Africa, 6.00 – 18.00 hrs
The largest city in the KwaZulu-Natal province is a unique melting pot of Indian, European and African cultures. Take a bicycle tour through Durban** to experience its urban flair and natural diversity. Or head to the treetops for a canopy tour**, where you can take in gorgeous views of the jungle and surrounding area from a high ropes course.
Durban – Durban Country Club
Despite the competition in George and Sun City, the Durban Country Club golf course remains the best golf course in South Africa. No other course in the country has so frequently hosted the South African Open and other championships. The course is right next to the Indian Ocean and was masterfully formed from the dunes. The course was opened in 1922 and redesigned in 1959. Certain holes are extremely difficult. The 12th hole, with its elevated green, is also known as the “Prince of Wales”.
16-Dec-2015 Port Elizabeth/South Africa, arrival 19.00 hrs
This sweeping coastal city entices visitors with pristine sandy beaches, and it’s the gateway to two ecologically diverse nature reserves. More than 25 kinds of game and over 200 bird species call the Kariega Game Reserve** home. The Addo Elephant National Park** is dedicated to the continent’s prestigious pachyderms and, with a bit of luck, you might also come face to face with ostriches and antelope, too.
