vibrant metropolis. Take a stroll along Kungsportsavenyn with its shops and
restaurants, or let the picturesque west coast* enchant you. This is where the islands
of Orust and Tjörn, which are linked by spectacular bridges to
the Swedish Riviera, are located. The ruins of Bohus
Fortress, which dates back to the 14th century, are a legacy of
Norwegian rule. In Skaerhamn, fine art enthusiasts get the opportunity to
visit the Nordic Watercolour Museum. The country estate Tjolöholm* Castle was
built between 1898 and 1904 in the English Tudor
style. Its owner, a businessman from Gothenburg, had it
furnished with supreme attention to detail and at the time state-of-the-art
technology, including Sweden’s oldest vacuum cleaner, which weighed a tonne.
