At the Basilica Notre Dame de la Garde, the landmark of France’s oldest port city*, you will enjoy am impressive view of Marseille. On the trails of Cézanne*, you will travel to elegant Aix-en-Provence and visit his studio. The artist also created some of his masterpieces at the Château Noir in Le Tholonet and Saint-Antonin-sur-Bayon.

The EUROPA reaches the charming Catalan metropolis in the morning and stays for the night. Plenty of time to get to know Barcelona’s panorama* with the Columbus Monument, the Plaça de Catalunya and the Spanish Village, which was established on the occasion of the World Exposition 1929. Or would you like to discover the city by retracing the footsteps of Gaudí*? The Catalan genius left his mark on Barcelona with works such as the fancy Park Güell, the Casa Milà and his masterpiece, the unfinished church Sagrada Familia, in the crypt of which he was laid to rest in 1926. Construction work on the impressive house of prayer that was consecrated by Pope Benedict XVI in 2010 continues to the present day. A myth-enshrouded Black Madonna statue is being preserved at Montserrat Monastery* on the mountain of the same name. The Benedictine abbey dating back to the 10th century is one of Catalonia’s most frequently visited pilgrimage destinations and already offers a picturesque sight from afar.

Enthralling Valencia* proves to be an exciting architectural combination of historic heritage in the old part of the city and the futuristic buildings of the “City of Arts and Sciences” in the dry riverbed of the Rio Turia. Among the gems of the city is the legendary art nouveau market hall*, which is regarded as one of the most beautiful throughout Europe. Under the domes of the gorgeous roof, there is space for almost 1,000 market stalls offering the numerous products from the fertile region all around Valencia. You will travel back in time to the year 219 BC during a visit to Sagunto*, the siege and destruction of which triggered the Second Punic War in the distant past. Subsequently, the underworld beckons – embark on a boat trip on a subterranean river in the caves of Vall d’Uxo*.

The pearl of the Balearic Islands invites you ashore for a stroll through the historic district of Palma or the narrow alleys of Fornalutx*, one of Spain’s most picturesque mountain villages which has received several awards. In an old mill in Soller*, you will experience how olive oil is traditionally produced. A train then takes you through the island’s landscape back to Palma. En route, you will enjoy marvellous views along the west coast* with its rocks and precipitous cliffs. Subsequently, the promenade of Port d’Andratx* offers ideal territory for a leisurely walk or a “café solo” while gazing at the harbour.

Between a broad bay and the foothills of the Atlas Mountains lies the “white city”, the capital of Algeria. During a panoramic trip* with photo stops, you can gain first impressions of Algiers, for instance at the Martyrs Memorial and the Basilica Notre Dame d’Afrique. On foot, we will set out for the historic district* with its citadel, mosques and buildings from the French colonial era. A UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in the winding alleys of which you can watch craftsmen do their work and where you gain insights into everyday life in a typical residential house.
